BUFFALO ADDS MERRIMACK’S ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER MIKYLA GRANT-MENTIS AND NO. 1 G LÉA-KRISTINE DEMERS

The Buffalo Beauts have signed a pair of standout players from Canada who just completed their collegiate careers at Merrimack: all-time leading scorer Mikyla Grant-Mentis and No. 1 goaltender Léa-Kristine Demers.

One of the top forwards in college hockey in recent years, Grant-Mentis is Merrimack’s all-time leader in points (117) and assists (61), and is second in goals (56).

This season, the Brampton, Ontario native led Merrimack with 20 goals and 33 points in 33 games. The 20 goals ranked tied for second in Hockey East and top ten in the country. Grant-Mentis had primary points on 54 percent of Merrimack’s total offense this season, and she was second among Merrimack forwards in blocked shots (39).

Demers posted a .906 save percentage in 2019-20 while facing an average of 33.09 SA60 (shots against per-60 minutes). She finished eighth in the nation in total saves (795). The 5-foot-11 goaltender from Repentigny, Quebec finished her collegiate career with a .910 Sv% and a 3.03 GAA.

"We are very excited to welcome Mikyla and Léa-Kristine to the Beauts,” said Buffalo general manager Mandy Cronin. “We are on a mission to bring the Isobel Cup back to Buffalo, and we believe these two highly-skilled young players can help us do that."

Grant-Mentis, Demers and the Beauts are in New Jersey this weekend for two games against the Riveters to close out the regular season.

The Beauts will be back home at Northtown Center at Amherst when they host the Isobel Cup Play-In Game against the Connecticut Whale on Friday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available now at nwhl.zone/tickets.
