Beauts Sign Former Mercyhurst Captain Knott to Roster
BUFFALO – The Buffalo Beauts have added another forward to their roster in former Mercyhurst University captain Maggie Knott. She has signed with the team through the remainder of the 2022-23 Premier Hockey Federation season. Knott was previously signed as a practice player for the Beauts before being offered a standard contract with the team. Details of the contract are not being disclosed.
“I signed with the Beauts because the team has created a great culture,” said Knott. “The Beauts offer a passion for the game that I truly admire. I am excited to become part of it!”
A native of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada, Knott’s collegiate career saw her play 142 NCAA games for Mercyhurst from 2016-17 through 2019-20. She compiled 31 goals, 65 assists and 96 points during that time. Knott’s finest offensive season came in 2017-18 when she set career highs in goals (12) and points (29) in 37 games. She served as an alternate captain for the Lakers during her 2018-19 junior campaign and became team captain as a senior in 2019-20.
“At 5-foot-11 and with her long reach, Maggie has an uncanny ability to control the puck in a way that not a lot of other skaters are capable of,” said Beauts GM Nate Oliver. “We love her mindset and her positive spirit.
Maggie is bright-eyed and ready to contribute. With her playmaking ability and her strength, we are eager to see what she can do in game-action.”
Knott is the fourth former Mercyhurst Laker to join the team’s current roster alongside former teammates Emma Nuutinen, Summer-Rae Dobson and Samantha Fieseler.
“I think that fans can expect from me that I am a two-way player and that I bring a strong work ethic,” said Knott.
Knott has previous professional experience with the PWHPA during 2020-21.
