BUFFALO – The Buffalo Beauts have signed forward Michaela Boyle to a 1-year contract for the 2022-23 Premier Hockey Federation season. Boyle won the 2018 NCAA Championship as a freshman at Clarkson University and proceeded to assemble a stellar collegiate career. Having completed her NCAA eligibility following the 2021-22 season, she is excited to begin her professional career as a member of the Beauts.

“I chose to play for the Beauts because their team identity and culture aligned with what I was looking to become a part of,” said Boyle. “I am very excited as I take my first step into professional hockey.”

Boyle played 118 NCAA games in a 5-year collegiate career that included stops with Clarkson (2017-18, 2018-19), Robert Morris University (2019-20, 2020-21) and most recently Boston College (2021-22). The 5-foot-3 native of Reading, Massachusetts totaled 38 goals, 25 assists and 63 points within those 118 games. Her finest output came during the 2019 -20 season when she potted 22 goals in 36 games for the RMU Colonials. Her 22 tallies were eighth in the entire NCAA and she led all forwards with 11 goals on the power play that season.

"Michaela comes from well-established collegiate programs that have built their success by having a winning culture,” said Beauts head coach Rhea Coad. “Michaela is a skilled forward who has played with and against top-end players. She is always continuing to better herself on and off the ice. We are excited to see what she does and what she brings to our roster this season.”

16 of Boyle’s 38 goals in college came on the power play – an area where the Beauts struggled this past season (.098 PP% for fifth place in the PHF) and are looking to improve. Boyle is a 4-time participant in USA Hockey National Development Camps (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016). She skated with the Boston Pride during the 2021-22 PHF season as a practice player. Eager to become a pro player herself, Boyle is enthusiastic about the strides that the PHF continues to make.

“I am most excited to see how the league continues to grow and the caliber of hockey that is played each weekend,” said Boyle. “I think as each season passes the level of competition rises within the league and it is only going to get better and better.”
