BUFFALO – The Buffalo Beauts have announced that they have signed forward and Webster, New York native Kristina Schuler for the remainder of the 2022-23 Premier Hockey Federation season. The agreement was completed prior to the PHF’s roster freeze deadline of February 13.

Schuler is set to make her professional hockey debut after four seasons at Boston University (2017-18— 2020-21) and a fifth at Clarkson University (2021-22). Details of the contract are not being disclosed.

“I miss hockey and the Beauts have given me the opportunity to play again while being close to home,” said Schuler. “I want to be part of a team again and play at a competitive level.”

Schuler played 156 games during her NCAA career. During that time, she assembled totals of 24 goals, 39 assists, and 63 points. The 5-foot-5 skater also accumulated 92 minutes in penalties. Schuler’s finest offensive season came in 2019-20 when she achieved collegiate career highs of eight goals, 13 assists, and 21 points in 36 games for BU.

“Kristina is a player we have known about for a while,” said Beauts GM Nate Oliver. “We’ve been following her for a few years now and the opportunity came about where she could sign with the Beauts for the current season. Kristina is a hard-nosed player. The majority of her goals and points come from puck battles around the net and fighting for rebounds. She excels in the dirty areas and has a lot of bite within her.”

Schuler served as an alternate captain with the BU Terriers during her senior season in 2020-21. She was twice named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team (2017-18, 2018-19).

“I feel that I am a hard-working forward that takes a lot of pride in the defensive zone,” said Schuler. “I am someone who plays to win and consistently shows up to be her very best.”
